Having a viable and useful website has been a wish of our PTA for many years. In the Fall of 2008, our current President started investigating the options available to the Lincoln PTA to build a user friendly site, filled with current and useful information, that could be maintained easily by our members without prior training, and at a reasonable cost. Website development companies were investigated, calls went out in the newsletters for assistance, and ideas were sourced. What you are looking at now are the results. The Lincoln PTA website has been created by a PTA Mom (and supportive Dad too) with absolutely no prior website building or development experience. After learning the costs involved in purchasing a domain, securing monthly hosting, and having an outside vendor build us a basic website…I asked first for the opportunity to try to build the site myself in order to save the PTA thousands of dollars. This site is built using an open source (which means free) content management system (CMS), that requires no prior CSS or HTML coding experience to use. It has numerous extensions developed by real world users that will enable future Website Administrators to continue to build and enhance the site at only the cost of someone’s time. It has been an enjoyable learning experience building this site, and we hope that you will find it pertinent, valuable, and a source that you will bookmark and visit often for Lincoln PTA news.
