The Lincoln PTA proudly supports programs that inspire our children to believe that they can become whatever they choose. We support programs that instill character building, like Character Counts, instill a lifelong love of reading, like Junior Great Books, that make learning hands on fun like the Science Olympiad, and that allow our children to explore their creativity in activities like Destination Imagination and the Reflections Program. Educational Enrichment also encompasses all of the assemblies that the PTA sponsors for Lincoln School. We work closely with the Principal to bring things like speakers, musical groups, and authors into the school. Below is a listing with a brief synopsis of each of the educational enrichment programs that we sponsor each school year. For a full description of each Committee, please link to them from the drop down menu at the top of this page. Character Counts A committee that works with the Principal and teachers to support the kids with character building activities, such as coat drives, food drives, etc. Destination Imagination Students are assigned to a team for 8-12 weeks to create a unique solution to a Team Challenge, which can have a focus that is theatrical, structural, improvisational, scientific or technical - or a blend of several disciplines. Junior Great Books The PTA supports grade-level “book clubs”. Training and materials are provided. ReflectionsA National PTA program supported by the Lincoln PTA provides an opportunity for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Each year a theme is selected and students submit their work in one of four art categories: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography or Visual Arts. Science Olympiad A science-related event that provides students with an opportunity to do hands on science experiments. Student Programs and Assemblies During the school year, the PTA presents several fun and educational assemblies for the school. These programs are usually arranged by the the VP's of Programs but other volunteers might be needed.
