Greetings, Lincoln school parents. I hope your children and you had a wonderful summer and are ready to start another rewarding school year at Lincoln. I have enjoyed seeing the familiar faces of our returning families and students, and have especially enjoyed meeting our new students and their families.
I have the honor of serving as Lincoln school’s PTA President this year. If I’ve learned one thing while my sons have attended Lincoln, it is that great schools require great effort and dedication by a lot of people. Lincoln wouldn’t be the thriving learning environment it is if not for the dedication and sacrifice of our teachers, administrators, parents and students. I firmly believe that our PTA has played a vital role in shaping the school environment. The PTA Board and I are looking forward to contributing to a positive Lincoln experience this year.
One thing I have noticed is that PTA membership is down a bit this year. I would like to take the opportunity to tell you a little about the Lincoln School PTA.
Through fundraising, the Lincoln School PTA is able to fund educational enrichment activities and provide teacher/staff support. We raise funds in three key ways, through the activity fee one can pay by joining the PTA, the Halloween Carnival in late October, and the Book Fair in November. All proceeds from these fundraisers are used to fund and/or reduce the cost of many educational and social programs including:

Back-to-School Pep Rally
Walk to School Days prizes
Character Counts activities
Junior Great Books supplement
Reflections
Chess Club
5th Grade Luncheon
DARE Luncheon
Field Day
Safety Patrol supplies and end of the year celebration; Parent Patrol supplies
We also give each teacher $100 for school related expenses per year. There are currently 37 teachers at Lincoln.
