What is it?The Pep Rally (formerly known as the Ice Cream Social) is the first event the PTA sponsors to kick off the start of the new school year. It is the celebration of the beginning of the new school year where you can see your old friends and meet some new ones! The excitement starts off with a DJ spinning tunes for the kids to play freeze dance along with other silly dance games. All the children enjoy a frozen treat during the hour long party. Then, as darkness begins to fall, parents and their children set up lawn chairs and blankets to get ready to watch a movie together. This past year the PTA showed the movie Camp Rock. And what would a movie be without popcorn? The PTA provided popcorn for everyone to munch on while they were enjoying the movie! When is it?The Pep Rally is usually held on the first Friday evening during the first week of school. Volunteers needed?- Chairperson and/or Co-Chairs
- Parent Volunteers, approximately 10 - 20 parents for various duties including, set up, clean up, handing out treats, etc.
How much time does it take? The Chairperson needs to plan the event and hire the entertainment by August, as well as solicit volunteers to work at the event, and of course be there at the Pep Rally to ensure everything runs smoothly. Parent Volunteers can be scheduled in shifts at the event, so their time commitment can be for as little as a hour, or for the entire evening, depending on their availability and preference.
